Since I don't feel like following the crowd and writing a "top ten of O'Ten" list, and since I'd posted a partial list back in May or June, with the first 70 or so that I'd read for the year. That's a heck of a list. Well done!
yes, on the one hand, numerically it is.. but I've come to feel I cheated a bit because of how short or how easy some of the books were.. I distinctly cut down on the number of non fiction books I read this year in order to accomplish it..
Thanks for visiting!
That is a pretty impressive list. Of those I've read The Gunslinger, The Eyes of the Dragon, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, The Hammer and the Cross, Dune, and The Winter King. I recently re-read The Eyes of the Dragon after many years and had forgotten how good it was.
I'd be interested to hear your opinion of the Sharpe books. You've got them rated pretty highly. I love Cornwell but have never read his Sharpe stuff.
Well I will be doing a new thread on the full Sharpe series before the end of the year.
I did one previously on the Television series, but this one I plan to focus more on the books. As far as my ratings go, I consider them to be fare better than the Arthur series.. but that could simply be that I have a very straight forward personality and the Sharpe books are very straight forward.. I don't really enjoy books that have a lot of political machinations, ethical grumbling and moral wishywashyness.. The only reason the KJ Parker books are rated as highly as they are is because of just how well written they are.. in spite of the fact I'd likely not cross the street to put out a fire on any of the characters backs..
